President Elect 1988

President Elect 1988 is a sequel to President Elect 1984. It was programmed by Nelson G Hernandez Sr. It was published by Strategic Simulations.

Why do I care about this old game?

This game is without a doubt my favorite election simulation game. This game is not everyone's cup of tea. It is really number heavy. the gameplay is a bit much. I don't still don't even know the strategy to debate in the game. However; I believe that it is currently unmatched in realism.

This game is the sole reason that I know a significant amount info of U.S presidential elections from 1960-1988

If you are a fan of spreadsheet simulations or just want to see an alternate 1980' election of Reagan vs Carter vs Anderson with Reagan as the incumbent and Carter as the challenger (In the simulation I ran election was decided at 4 am by less then 10,000 votes with Hawaii deciding the winner!) You can check out the game HERE

Modding

The game is moddable to a certain extent. I only understand certain parts of modding like adding candidates or changing states electoral colleges numbers. but I hope to learn more as time goes on . I will put the results here. WIP If you like the concept but the game is a bit too dry I recommend The New Campign Trail. While the game loses a bit of realism it has many different scenarios from historic to Spongebob vs Squidward vs Patrick 2008 or the seemingly straightforward 2000? (caution that scenario gets crazy. you may need a walkthrough). Also I realize that it might be a bit hard to find the mod button (They make it so small). I have added a gif to show you were to click
